DNTN, Ukraine – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a North Tongu member of parliament, is assuming a demeaning reputation for fabricating information in order to grant himself some influence over Ghanaian students studying abroad.
However, he was exposed on two crucial instances for flat-out lying to damage the reputation of the NPP administration, which is in power, or to make the flight of Ghanaian students abroad appear uncaring or careless.
The newest falsehood from Ablakwa is his “discovery” that Russian military attacked a Ukrainian train carrying Ghanaian students.
First, a quick Google search found up no evidence of a Russian force strike on a train in Ukraine, which would have been a significant change from Russia’s claim that it had done so.
Also, a follow-up investigation by DNT from our Ukrainian correspondents similarly turned up nothing.
You might remember that Ablakwa pretended to hold a news conference at the start of the coronavirus outbreak to declare that Ghanaian students were passing away from the virus in China and that the NPP government was being insensitive by leaving them there.
At the time, Ghana’s Embassy in Beijing did an exceptional job of taking care of the students, according to a thorough report that DNT Correspondent Michael Amponsah put in. The account was supported by video footage that showed Ghanaian students relaxingly displaying their well-being.
These two events highlight the desperation of people like Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who are always looking for an excuse to criticize the administration.
On a related issue, a post has been circulating on social media encouraging Ghanaian students studying in Ukraine to seek assistance from a supposed Dr. Albert Kitcher at a bogus location.
Dr. Albert Kitcher has publicly refuted the assertion and requested that no one get in touch with him since he has no connection to any assistance for Ghanaian students.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the presidency’s director of local government, decentralization, and rural development, has delivered some messages to Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s national communications officer.
Sammy Gyamfi and Dennis Miracles Aboagye appeared on Saturday’s broadcast of TV3’s The Key Points. The two guests had a fantastic conversation on different topical national concerns, as well as the achievements of both the NPP and the NDC.
During the conversation, Sammy Gyamfi stated unequivocally that the NPP administration has failed to establish a single school since taking power in 2017.
Sammy Gyamfi was informed by Dennis Miracles Aboagye after he made this claim that he has been spreading this untruth for the past five years. He claims that Sammy Gyamfi’s job is spreading untruths about the NPP, which is currently in power. Sammy Gyamfi, in his opinion, has been defaming the NPP for the past five years, according to him.
Dennis Miracles also expressed his dissatisfaction with his own NPP government for neglecting to refute Sammy Gyamfi’s fabrications regarding the NPP over the previous five years. Sammy Gyamfi received a clear message from him telling him to stop lying against the NPP since it has constructed more school facilities than the NDC regime.
“I have given you a list of secondary schools that have been built by this government from scratch to correct that falsehood and consistent lies by the NDC. For some strange reasons, he has been saying these lies for five years and for some reasons, my party and my people have failed to call him out” he said.
E. T. Mensah, a former minister of works and housing, has expressed surprise at several remarks made in support of how the NDC administration handled the contentious Saglemi Housing project.
This comes after Sammy Gyamfi, the party’s national communications officer, said that the project would be carried out in stages.
Mr. Gyamfi argued that Collins Dauda, the successor to E. T. Mensah, did nothing wrong in a lengthy article published shortly after it was reported that Attorney-General Godfred Dame had filed charges against five people, including two former Ministers under the NDC administration, for causing financial loss to the state.
He claimed that the actions taken by Mr. Mensah, who had notified Parliament that the housing units would not be erected all at once, could not entirely be attributed to Mr. Dauda.
“It is instructive to note that the Minister of Works and Housing at the time, Honorable. E. T. Mensah informed Parliament during the debate on the approval of the loan facility that the 5000 housing units will not be built at a go, but rather over a period of time, that is, in phases.”
He also explained that the $200 million credit facility secured for the project did not cover sewage and other ancillary works needed for the housing units.
“Under the Works Agreement, government was supposed to provide a serviced plot of land with roads, water, electricity, drains, sewage systems and other ancillary facilities for the smooth takeoff of the project, the cost of which had not been factored into the amount of $US200 million approved by Parliament for the project.”
“Since government did not have any funds to fall on to discharge these responsibilities, the decision was taken by the Ministry to use part of the approved amount of the project (US$200 million) for all the necessary ancillary works to pave way for the construction of the housing units and to make the project site a commercially viable and habitable community.
“This is what informed the decision by the Ministry to do the project in phases, as the Minister, Honourable. E. T. Mensah had already intimated to Parliament. Clearly, the 5,000 houses could not be built at a go. “
E. T. Mensah, however, rejects this account of what happened.
Speaking to Paul Adom Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, Mr. Mensah said anyone who argues the $200 million loan arrangement does not cover ancillary activities is illiterate.
The former Minister labeled the statement as a falsehood when it came to whether the project would be carried out in stages.
“It is a lie. I was not into any phases. We knew that we wanted to build, that is 5,000 houses to be built for workers, and it was approved; executive approval was given and parliament approved it, so if anything at all, If I wanted to change something, I had to go through the same process again,” he said.
He described how the project will be carried out in a single step.
He questioned, “How can people lie like this?”
It appears the marriage between John Dramani Mahama and Steve Mallory of Africa Watch magazine has come to an end, prompting the desperado former president to seek the services of another mercenary.
This time round, Mahama has secured the services of Steve H. Hanke, a professor of applied economics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Just like his phobia of Akufo-Addo drove him to contract Steve Mallory, John Mahama has gone in for this economist whose main job is to attack Dr. Bawumia over the state of the economy.
Steve Mallory invented all manner of stories about Akufo-Addo, published the then NPP candidate’s medical records which turned out to be false.
It was evidently clear that those stories were being written from Ghana by Mahama’s henchmen and same planted in Africa Watch. Those false stories, as bad as they were, could not change the minds of the Ghanaian electorate who voted massively for Nana Addo.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will more than likely lead the NPP into the 2024 elections, and all things being equal, the incompetent one, John Mahama, would also lead the NDC in 2024.
Bawumia beats Mahama when the two are compared as presidential candidates. John Mahama cannot stand the might of Bawumia. He is too ordinary to go against Bawumia and so, for him to have a bit of an advantage, Bawumia must be sullied.
Steve Hanke is in to stain the academic prowess of Bawumia. The question is, all those countries this ‘greatest economist’ has advised in the past, what came out of them?
Hanke will falter just like Steve Mallory whose hatred for Akufo-Addo drove him to join forces with Mahama to defile the good image of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. His strenuous efforts will surely come to naught.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that he will not run for reelection when the party convenes congress on December 17.
The seasoned politician declared that it was time for him to step aside and allow others to take over the party’s leadership.
He claims that the job is very demanding.
“Age plays a major role in everything. This job of a General Secretary involves a lot; your time, energy, among others.”
“I have considered all these, and I am of the firm view that I won’t contest again. What I am saying is that I won’t seek re-election as General Secretary,” Mr Nketiah said in an interview with Accra-based Radio Gold on Wednesday, September 21.
When asked about his future step, he declined to respond, stating that he would make the announcement later.
However, according to political pundits, he will run for the party’s National Chairmanship position.
In 2005, Mr. Nketiah was appointed NDC general secretary and he has led till now.
On December 17, the party is anticipated to attend Congress to choose new national officers.
Many candidates, including Peter Boamah Otokunor and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, have announced that they will run for the seat.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that if elected president, he will release all people who have been arrested for engaging in illicit mining activities, also known as “galamsey.”
The former president promised that he would see to it that individuals who had been detained for galamsey would be released and given the opportunity to carry on with their illicit mining endeavors during an interaction with a group of NDC members.

“Eye Zu! When we win power, all those arrested for engaging in galamsey would be given amnesty for them to come back. We believe that whatever law they flouted, they’re remorseful so we shall free them and give them another chance to work as galamseyers” Mahama promised.
Following the re-arrest of Chinese galamsey queen Aisha Huang, who had returned to the country after being presumed to have been expelled to China, discussions regarding the fight against galamsey have become more intense.
The Akufo-Addo administration has come under fire from the previous president for neglecting to take serious action against galamsey in an interview with TV3.
The same person is featured in this video pledging to free everyone who has broken our mining rules and been imprisoned while also allowing them to resume their illicit mining activities.
Then-candidate Mahama sent individuals like Dr. Tony Aubynn, Kwaku Boahen, and Michael Kwadwo Peprah into galamsey-prone areas in the run-up to the 2020 elections to persuade them to vote for him because he would permit them to perform their galamsey if he won the polls. The previous president has frequently urged people to participate in galamsey.
This administration has already invested millions of dollars in its war against galamsey. This strongly suggests that the former President does not support the battle against illegal mining because it comes from him.
SAMMY GYAMFI LIES
Sammy Gyamfi ‘exposed’ over ‘lies’ about the National Mosque.
The National Communications Director of the major opposition party (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has once gotten himself in trouble after being ‘exposed’ for his recent comments concerning the National Mosque.
“As for the ridiculous claim that the mosque was funded through a grant from the Turkish government, it could only have come from a desperate propagandist trying to justify his opposition to the construction of the National Cathedral by making baseless claims about the National Mosque. These claims by Sammy Gyamfi are not only lies and a shameless attempt to score cheap political points for former President Mahama, using the National Mosque, but it is also disrespectful to Ghanaian Muslims, and the philanthropic NGO, which fully funded the construction of the Mosque. Sammy Gyamfi can go on with his anti-National Cathedral campaign; that is his business and not our concern. But in pursuing his propaganda, he should leave the National Mosque out of it, and he should stop giving credit to people for roles they did not play”, the Zongo group’s statement unequivocally disclosed.
The assertions made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he was unaware of GETFund scholarship agreements while serving as deputy minister of education have been refuted.
According to information obtained by DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Ablakwa participated actively in GETFund scholarship negotiations while serving as a minister in the NDC government.
According to some reports, the NDC MP had enough clout to ‘by-pass’ GETFund employees and ‘personally’ negotiate scholarship agreements with overseas colleges on GETFund’s behalf.
A memorandum of agreement (MoU) has been signed by Mr. Ablakwa on behalf of GETFund and Lovely Professional University (LPU) of India.
The contentious Memorandum of Understanding, signed on March 16, 2016, was primarily designed to help negotiate scholarship offers for Ghanaian students to study in India, as well as to give support for Ghanaian schools.
It went on to say that the GETFund was the top body of education in Ghana, in charge of regulating, expanding, and developing institutions in Ghana’s higher education system.
It stated that both GETFund and the LPU recognized that they shared many interests and that their collaboration would benefit both parties.
“GETFund, Ghana has tied up with LPU to provide access to quality education to the students of Ghana,” the MoU, which had Dr. Monica Gulati, the Registrar of LPU, also as a signatory, indicated.
“GETFund intends to further work with LPU, which has already made a significant contribution in the area of higher education in India to guide and mentor universities/colleges and such other organisations,” the MoU added.
The report was released at a time when Mr. Ablakwa publicly denied knowing about GETFund scholarship programs while serving as deputy minister of education.
There have been heated debates in the media recently when it was revealed that some MPs and government officials from both the NDC and the NPP received GETFund scholarships.
Even in the GETFund paperwork, there is a name Mercy Ablakwa, thought to be Mr. Ablakwa’s relative, suggesting that she also received a GETFund scholarship in 2010.
According to an award letter reportedly signed by the GETFund administrator, Sam Garba, Mercy Ablakwa was awarded a total of $33,400 on August 12, 2010 to pursue a BSc Nursing at the University of Charleston in the United States.
The academic scholarship was worth $16,032, while the living allowance and passage cost $17,366.
The Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has asked that the North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, retracts and apologizes for the falsehood that he was Secretary for the National Cathedral in 2019 since its incorporation.
According to Ablakwa, Godfred Yeboah Dame was registered as Secretary of the National Cathedral Board while also serving on the board of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), which approved the contract for the project design.
“It is quite revealing to observe that when the National Cathedral was incorporated on 18th July 2019; the then Deputy AG, Godfred Dame was registered as Secretary. During that same period, he served on the board of the PPA which approved Adjaye’s irregular sole sourcing contract”, Okudjeto Ablakwa wrote on his Facebook page.
Reacting to this claim, Mr. Dame dismissed the claims of breaching conflict of interest rules in processes leading to the incorporation of the National Cathedral of Ghana as a private company.
According to the Attorney-General, the allegation against him “is utterly false.”
In responding to the question, he explained that “the National Cathedral of Ghana was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee (non-profit making entity) on 18th July 2019.”
“Quite clearly, at the time of the approval by PPA (on whose governing board I served in my former capacity as Deputy Attorney-General), no company known as the National Cathedral of Ghana had been formed for me to be Secretary of, or have any purported interest in to declare. I could not have had a so-called interest in a non-existent company. If Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa had cared to read or examine the relevant documents well, as he should have, this plain fact would not have been lost on him,” he explained.
He further stated that, “for the avoidance of doubt, I state that my role as Secretary (not a director or a member) to a not-for-profit company owned by the State does not present me with any personal interest which conflicts with the performance of my functions as a Minister.”
“The record reflects the fact that even in respect of companies limited by liability (profit-making entities), the State regularly appoints public officers, including Ministers, to serve as members of the board of directors to protect the public interest where the State is a shareholder,” he added.
Ablakwa lies against GAF
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have refuted assertions made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu in the Volta Region, that there is unrest within the Armed Forces’ rank and file.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP’s assertion is not only a pleasant falsehood, but also unfounded, according to the GAF.
According to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, “there is some kind of unease within the ranks of the Ghana Air Force due to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-preference Addo’s for luxurious aircraft operated by a foreign crew,” according to a story published by an electronic media on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, the Public Relations Directorate, General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, issued a statement denying the infamous MP’s comments.
“We wish to state unequivocally that this allegation is untrue and without basis,” according to the statement signed by Commander Andy La-Anyane, Acting Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces.
He indicated that personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces are rather excited with high level of moral as result of the support the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done for them in terms of retooling of the Forces for smooth running of operations and accommodation provided for the troops and their families.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the morale of personnel, not only in the Ghana Air Force as is being alleged, but the entire Ghana Armed Forces has never been at a very higher level.
Personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces appreciate the numerous additions that the government has made for the smooth running of operations, including accommodation for troops and their families, vehicles to enhance mobility, review of salaries amongst many others.
“Troops also appreciate the efforts being made by government in retooling the Forces with the acquisition of a number of platforms including war ships for the Ghana Navy, Armoured Personnel Carriers for the Ghana Army, various aircraft including strategic lift for VIPs for use by the Ghana Air Force and many others.
“It is also important to state that the fighter squadron of the Ghana Air Force is currently being retooled by government to augment the professional posture of the Ghana Air Force.”
“The Ghana Armed Forces therefore admonished the general public to treat the allegations of disquiet within the ranks of the Ghana Air Force with the contempt it deserves”.
Serving warning notice to Ablakwa and other politicians over politicization of the Forces, the GAF further stated that “Additionally, we wish to entreat all Ghanaians, including politicians, not to drag the Ghana Armed Forces into partisan politics. Our mandate as captured in the 1992 Constitution is to defend the territorial integrity of Ghana and we should be allowed to focus on our mandate.
“Finally, we wish to assure the general public once again that morale of troops is very high.”
