Ernest Yaw Anim, a candidate for the NPP, has received congratulations from the most credible Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia after being elected as the representative for the Ashanti region’s Kumawu seat.
In the by-election held on May 23 to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Philip Basoa, the former NPP MP for the constituency, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) kept the seat.
Kwesi Amankwah, a candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received 3,723 votes, falling short of Ernest Yaw Anim’s 15,264 votes.

With 2,478 and 62 votes, respectively, the independent candidates Kwaku Duah (1) and Kwaku Duah (2) won the race.
The Vice President asked the NPP MP to use his time in Parliament to benefit the people of Kumawu and the country as a whole in a tweet sent out in the wake of the election results.
“We are happy to announce this triumph for Ernest Yaw Anim and Kumawu. Make Kumawu proud, Anim, and leave a lasting impression on Parliament. Kumawuman, thank you!” the Vice President wrote.

The NPP has maintained its dominance in the Kumawu constituency since 1996, and the party’s victory in the by-election confirms this.
Because of the involvement of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, and his police officers, the by-election was held without any major events being recorded.

The Ashanti Region’s Kumawu electorate has been urged by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to cast their votes for Mr. Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate in the next by-election.

The applicant, according to him, “will ensure Kumawu is developed” and is “humble, hard-working, and intelligent.”

I really like him, let’s all vote for him, boom boom, Dr. Bawumia said.
