The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as part of his campaign tour engaged the people of Mion in the Northern Region. As part of the engagements and to exhibit a sense of tolerance for varying cultures, Dr. Bawumia joined the people in their dance as part of their culture. This caused a stir on social media with people expressing delight in his tolerance for other cultures with other socialites also criticizing him.
Among the critics include, the wife of musician cum activist, A-Plus with a username on Facebook, ‘Akosuavee Ab Bannerman’. In expressing discontentment with Dr. Bawumia she referred to the dance as “Nkwasia asa” to wit, stupid dance on her Instagram story. This prompted social media users to call her out for such words on Dr. Bawumia.
As people called her out, Ms Akosuavee Ab Bannerman clarified and sought to defend the post that she didn’t mean to insult the Vice President with such comment but rather the dance. This has infuriated many people on social media including people who hail from Mion in the northern region. People have been calling her out to apologize for such distasteful comment and annoying clarification.
Ms Bannerman is set to respond to such calls and render an unqualified apology to Dr. Bawumia, the people of Mion and those on socila media.
